We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to work for our client. The ideal candidate aligns with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below.
This is a strong opportunity for a hands-on technical leader to guide a team through modernizing core applications, blending architecture, mentoring, and full-stack development, in a hybrid role based in Columbus, OH.
Responsibilities- Design and build full-stack applications using C#, modern .NET, and REST APIs on the back end, with React and Type Script/JavaScript on the front end
- Lead efforts to modernize legacy applications and break monolithic systems into more flexible, maintainable services
- Shape architecture decisions around microservices and service-oriented design
- Develop and deploy cloud-based solutions in Microsoft Azure
- Work with SQL Server on data modeling, performance, and integration needs
- Run code reviews and set the bar for quality, security, and maintainability
- Mentor engineers through pairing, feedback, and technical guidance
- Encourage thoughtful use of AI-assisted development tools, such as Cursor or Claude Code, to speed up delivery
- Partner with Product, QA, and Dev Ops to deliver features reliably
- Strong hands-on experience with C#, .NET Core / modern .NET, and RESTful API development
- Full-stack experience with React and JavaScript/Type Script
- Experience building and deploying applications in Microsoft Azure
- Background in microservices, service-oriented architecture, and SQL Server
- Track record of modernizing legacy applications or migrating monolithic systems
- Technical leadership experience, including architecture discussions, mentoring, and code reviews
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or Claude Code
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach
- A modernization project with real substance, not just maintenance on aging code
- Authority to influence architecture and technology choices
