This position is responsible for coaching and providing direction to student athletes so that they achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork in softball.

- High school certification preferred.
- Three years’ head coaching experience preferred.
- Previous interscholastic softball coaching experience preferred.
- Experience in a school setting and coaching student athletes preferred.
- Certified in Fundamentals of Coaching, Concussion Training, First Aid or Sports Injury Prevention, CPR/AED, Sudden Cardiac Arrest (Lindsay’s Law), and Ohio Department of Education Pupil Activity Permit.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse populations, and commitment to fostering a positive team culture.
- Excellent communication in English, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency with computers, email, internet, and word processing software.
- Knowledge of child growth and development at each instructional level.
- Follow and maintain knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
- Instruct and teach skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team achievement in softball.
- Establish fair and objective player selection methods and communicate decisions to students.
- Meet parents or guardians of students who are members or trying out for the team.
- Create and maintain an inclusive team culture.
- Plan and set up activities, practices, and games in conjunction with the athletic director.
- Ensure a certified coach is present at all practices and games.
- Develop appropriate training programs and practice schedules.
- Maintain proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance of all athletic equipment and uniforms, and update inventories.
- Arrange game transportation in coordination with the Department of Student Life.
- Travel with student athletes for all events or assign a district‑approved designee.
- Adhere to all financial policies regarding collection, disbursement, and receipts.
- Make recommendations regarding purchase of uniforms, equipment, and supplies.
- Work directly with the Athletic Director in preparing practice and game schedules.
- Maintain necessary records and complete required paperwork in a timely manner.
- Ensure that proper forms (insurance, attendance, medical) are obtained and current.
- Ensure that all athletes are cleared through the Athletic Director’s office.
- Enforce discipline policies and emphasize sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles; supervise students in locker rooms.
- Check and secure all office, storage, locker rooms, and exterior doors after last practice or game.
- Ensure appropriate rules and regulations regarding conduct and eligibility of athletes are followed.
- Maintain a safe environment and facilities for athletes at all times.
- Coordinate medical and safety requirements and report game scores to the press.
- Follow OHSAA and Ohio Capital Conference rules and regulations.
- Provide guidance for youth and middle school girls softball programs.
- Assist in selection and training of assistant coaches.
- Work with Athletic Training when reporting injuries.
- Report and secure approval for all adults associated with the sport.
- Submit athlete rosters, inventory updates, and seasonal statistics to the Athletic Director as required.
- Consult with the Athletic Director on off‑season training programs.
- Assign duties to assistant coaches, including pre‑season practices.
- Resolve conflicts in a professional manner and maintain confidentiality of records.
- Represent the school and district professionally in all interactions.
- Maintain certifications and required training hours.
- Attend work regularly and be punctual.
- Attend in‑service training and staff meetings as needed.
- Sanitize and clean equipment.
- Inspect facilities and courts for health and safety concerns.
- Chaperone/supervise athletic events as required.
