- Operate 15-53 passenger buses, vans and shuttles to move staff/faculty/students on campus and the medical center, 7 days a week. Wash, clean, fuel, and perform daily safety inspections of vehicles; prepare vehicles for trips; drive routes; load and unload luggage and equipment; document activities and maintain required logs; complete reports; report mechanical and safety deficiencies; attend training sessions and seminars as assigned.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Pay range is 20.10 to 24.50/hour with opportunities for shift differential. Full-time bus operators bid on shifts by seniority several times a year. Work a fixed 40-hour work week with potential overtime during the week and weekend. Benefits include health and retirement benefits, plus tuition assistance for you and your dependents.
Required and Desired Qualifications- Required:
Must possess and maintain Class B Commercial Driver s License with passenger and air brake endorsements. - Routinely pass medical, drug, and alcohol screenings.
- Ability to work in a diverse environment; hours and days may vary; evenings, weekends, and special events may be required.
- Requires successful completion of FBI/BCI background check.
- Essential designation: position is designated as essential and required to be present regardless of emergency condition.
- Desirable: professional driving experience; 1–3 years of experience operating large vehicles, especially transit buses; experience on urban or high-traffic routes.
- Customer service experience; ability to interact professionally with the public; experience assisting passengers with disabilities or special needs is a plus.
- Safety and compliance: history of safe driving, clean driving record, familiarity with DOT and FMCSA regulations, pre-trip inspections, and reporting mechanical issues.
- Schedule adherence and reliability: ability to maintain on-time performance and adapt to traffic or route changes.
