The Role:

Planes is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Local Driver / Van Operator to join our moving team. This is a hands-on position that combines professional driving with physical labor, customer service, and teamwork. The Local Driver / Van Operator performs pickup, delivery, transportation, and moving services for our customers while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and professionalism. This role reports directly to the Local Dispatcher and requires both driving and labor responsibilities, including loading and unloading household goods.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate commercial vehicles in compliance with company, local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Report to work in full uniform and ready to perform assigned duties.
  • Complete all required shipment paperwork and company documentation accurately.
  • Communicate daily with dispatch regarding load schedules, deliveries, transit progress, and operational updates.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and delivery activities while meeting company quality standards.
  • Submit labor receipts and expense reports as required.
  • Maintain clean and organized vehicle cab and cargo areas.
  • Fuel vehicles regularly and maintain fuel receipts for reporting purposes.
  • Immediately report any vehicle, cargo, property damage, claims, accidents, or safety concerns.
  • Assist with facility cleanup and equipment inventory control.
  • Participate in required training programs and professional development courses.
  • Support company initiatives focused on safety, quality service, and customer satisfaction.
  • Build positive working relationships with customers, coworkers, dispatchers, and management.
Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum 6 months of professional driving experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Uni Group Van Operator qualification status.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently when needed.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds unassisted.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
  • Ability to stand and work for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in environments with dust, dirt, grease, exhaust, and fuel odors.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as business needs require.

Conditions:
