Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

Greet, engage, and assist customers visibly and actively.

Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.

Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures per company policy.

Adhere to the company's cash shortage and overage limits; work honestly to control loss.

Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).

Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.

Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.

Stay updated on current, upcoming, seasonal, and special ads.

Comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines.

Follow safety procedures, report unsafe conditions or accidents to management.

Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.

Create a welcoming environment, assisting customers with product questions.

Follow all applicable laws and company policies.

Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.

Manage conflicts professionally and cooperatively.

Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.

Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.

Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Customer service experience
Effective communication skills
Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)

Desired Previous Job Experience:

Customer service experience
Experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
