Job Overview
The post holder will provide comprehensive and high-quality receptionist/telephonist service.
The post holder will work in a challenging environment that undergoes constant changes and will need to exercise judgement and use a combination of skills to deal with day-to-day issues.
The post holder will be expected to demonstrate a sensitive and caring attitude that is client-focused and maintain a calm and organised approach when working under pressure.
Main DutiesWelsh skills need to be learnt when appointed to post.
Deal with patient enquiries in person and over the telephone appropriately, efficiently, courteously, promptly and discreetly, recognising the different needs of individuals.
Work flexibly with other practice staff to ensure that the surgery is adequately staffed at all times.

Qualifications and ExperienceEssential Criteria
- Confidence in dealing with the public by telephone and in person
- Experience of using Microsoft office packages
- Previous experience in a busy reception
- Education to a high standard
- Empathy/understanding of the public
- NVQ level 1 in customer services or equivalent
- General understanding of the way the NHS functions
- Communication skills: concise, accurate, grammatically correct
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
- The ability to speak Welsh
Desirable Criteria
- Experience of working within a Primary Care NHS setting
- Experience in Medicines Management
- Previous experience using EMIS and other NHS systems
- Previous experience in customer services
