Human Resources Specialist 1/Trainee 1/2
Base pay range: $71,119.00/yr - $87,286.00/yr
Duties- Select, recruit, place and maintain a competent workforce.
- Administer civil service list, position classification and payroll.
- Oversee employee benefits, leave policies, workers’ compensation and time & attendance.
- Monitor probation and performance evaluation programs.
- Orient new employees and assist in labor relations and disciplinary processes.
- Provide full range of human resources services related to staffing, recruitment and performance management.
- Conferring with various parties to ensure timely processing of personnel transactions.
- Support cross-training and onboarding of new employees.
- Processing and liaison for vendor contracts and recruitment events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Minimum 2 years of professional human resources experience for Specialist 1 (SG-18).
- Associate degree may substitute for two years of experience; bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of experience; master’s degree may substitute for five years of experience; doctorate may substitute for six years of experience.
- Reachable for appointment on the Current Civil Service Eligible List, Professional Careers Opportunity (PCO) or Public Administration Traineeship Transition (PATT).
- Eligible for lateral transfer or Section 70.1/70.4/52.6 of Civil Service Law.
- Paid holidays: 13 per year.
- Paid vacation: 13 days initially.
- Personal leave: 5 days per year.
- Sick leave: 8 days per year plus free enrollment in the Income Protection Program.
- Professional leave: 3 days per year.
- Health care coverage with family dental and vision plans at no extra cost.
- Paid parental leave up to 12 weeks at full pay for qualifying events.
