Overview
Estimator/Project Manager (Asbestos Abatement) at ESA, based in the Denver office. ESA is a full-service asbestos abatement, demolition, and soil and water remediation company with a national reach. The position requires a minimum of 4 years of experience in bidding and managing abatement work. Industrial experience in settings such as power plants, rail, mills, and refineries is a plus.
Position SummaryThe Estimator/Project Manager will review blueprints, bid specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for projects. The role includes planning, directing, and coordinating activities of designated projects to ensure goals are met within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters, either personally or through subordinate supervisors. The EPM will perform onsite job visits to ensure projects progress according to schedule and budget, act as a safety champion, and ensure compliance with city, state, and federal entities.
EssentialJob Functions
- Review project proposals or plans to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing the project, staffing requirements, and allocation of resources to phases of the project.
- Calculate costs based on materials, supplies, and man-hours; prepare job estimates for each project.
- Support safety compliance, act as a safety champion, and ensure compliance with City/State/Federal/OSHA guidelines; communicate the need for safety plans to the Safety Director in a timely manner.
- Submit change orders, bills, budget inputs, cost codes, cost reporting, purchase orders, and any necessary paperwork for each job in a timely manner.
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure progress is on schedule and within budget.
- Coordinate with supervisors to prioritize and outline work plans, assign duties, and monitor performance; provide recognition for results.
- Lead subordinates, be available to staff, provide regular performance feedback, and encourage skill development and process improvement.
- Develop and implement cost-saving measures to contribute to profits and revenue.
- Understand business implications of decisions and maintain knowledge of market and competition.
- Identify and resolve problems proactively, overcome obstacles, and maintain quality control.
- Manage customer situations effectively, respond to needs, solicit feedback to improve service.
- Focus on solving conflicts, maintain confidentiality, and remain open to new ideas.

- Perform other related duties as required, including special projects.
- Travel may be required.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident).
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in the abatement field with a proven track record of meeting revenue targets.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related business field is a plus.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience managing projects from bid to completion.
- Proven finance/budgetary skills in construction project management with ability to bring projects in on time and on budget.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with multiple work groups, employees, and clients.
- Ability to adapt to changes, delays, and unexpected events while managing multiple priorities.
- Ability to build strong trusting relationships to gain support and achieve results.
- Ability to envision, develop, and implement strategies to address complex business issues.
- Ability to interface effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Take initiative to identify and anticipate company needs and propose implementations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows (Word, Excel, Outlook).
