McMurdo Station, Antarctica
SALARY: $864 - $982 per week
- Establishes, plans, and implements standard operating procedures for the recreation department.
- Supervises requisitioning, receiving, inventory control, and product/supply needs for resupply.
- Recruits, evaluates, and hires contract part-time "on ice" POC staff from interested applicants.
- Establishes expectations for all POC and part-time staff.
- Approves all changes to Recreation operations.
- Manages recreation POC staff personnel to ensure proper standards of operation.
- Resources, markets, and recruits volunteers when required.
- Handles the financial affairs of the Recreation department efficiently and professionally when applicable.
- Communicates with McMurdo personnel to develop and improve Recreation programs and services to the community.
- Performs duties in support of Operations Division metrics, training subordinates on performance and documentation.
- Tracks all data related to metrics accurately and honestly.
- Participates in MCI trainings and drills as determined by supervisor.
- Supports the achievement of ASC metrics that the position can influence.
- Provides direct support to achieve all metrics related to ASC.
- Complies with all ASC Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals, providing necessary documentation.
- Ensures subordinate employees are trained on ASC Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and maintain needed documentation.
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining a safe workplace program, prioritizing safety.
- Communicates professionally, both orally and in writing, with subordinates regarding information essential for their success.
- Handles confidential matters in accordance with management policy.
- Interacts with the National Science Foundation, military, and other agency officials professionally and tactfully.
- Performs weekly upkeep/maintenance on gym equipment, including lubricating, aligning, tightening belts, deep cleaning, and repairing torn seats and benches.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation or a similar field required.
- Relevant experience accepted in lieu of a degree.
- Current Serv Safe Food Handler certificate must be obtained prior to deployment to Antarctica.
- Valid driver's license.
- Valid U.S. Passport.
- Minimum of four years of experience in a recreation field required.
- Two years of supervisory experience required.
- Previous experience with Station Services in Antarctica may be accepted in lieu of minimum experience.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required.
- Prerequisite of employment is to successfully gain a favorable Tier 1 - Elevated Background Investigation (EBI) result prior to deployment.
