Creating Connections | Talent AcquisitionThe City of Commerce City is looking for a skilled Traffic Signal Technician to help keep our streets safe, efficient, and moving. In this hands‑on role, you’ll install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair traffic signal systems, street lighting, and related electrical and electronic equipment across the city. From programming traffic signal controllers and detection systems to responding to outages and emergency repairs, your work will have a direct, visible impact on the community every single day.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys technical problem‑solving, fieldwork, and taking ownership of critical infrastructure. You’ll work with advanced signal equipment, operate specialized vehicles such as bucket trucks, read and interpret electrical plans, and collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure systems operate safely and reliably. We’re looking for a technician who values safety, precision, and public service, and takes pride in delivering skilled work that truly matters.
Hiring salary is dependent upon experience.
Hiring Range $57,035.88 - $85,553.52 / Annually

Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or G.E.D., supplemented by college‑level or military coursework or other signal industry‑recognized training in traffic engineering or electronics/electrical technology.
- Two years of experience in the field of traffic signal maintenance.
- Must possess Utility Line Locator Certification from a reputable organization or the ability to obtain certification within two years of employment.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must possess a valid commercial driver’s license and IMSA Level II Traffic Signal Technician Certification or the ability to obtain it within six months of employment.
- An equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
