Veterinary Technician

Duties

• Assist veterinarians in providing medical urgent care to animals-
  • Perform various laboratory tests and procedures
    - Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
    - Prepare animals for surgery and assist during surgical procedures. Administer Anesthesia
    - Take and develop x-rays
    - Provide animal restraint during examinations and procedures
    - Clean and maintain veterinary equipment and instruments
    - Educate pet owners on proper animal care and treatment
    - Maintain accurate medical records for all animalsSkills
    - Veterinary technician:
    Knowledge of veterinary medicine and procedures, including administering medications, performing laboratory tests, and assisting with surgeries
• Animal restraint:
  Ability to safely handle and restrain animals during examinations and procedures
• Animal physiology:
  Understanding of the anatomy and physiology of different animal species
• Laboratory:
  Proficiency in performing laboratory tests, such as blood work, urinalysis, and microbiology
• Veterinary critical care:
  Ability to provide emergency care to critically ill or injured animals
• Animal catheterization:
  Skill in placing catheters in animals for various medical purposes
• Dog training:
  Knowledge of dog behavior and training techniques to assist with behavioral issues or training programs
