At TRAK Machine Tools, we don’t just run parts — we invent the machines that make them. We’re looking for a highly skilled Prototype & Tool Room Machinist who loves solving problems, working with engineers, and bringing ideas to life in metal.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role where your craftsmanship directly influences next-generation CNC machine tools used by shops across the country.
What You’ll Do
Machine high-precision prototype parts for new machine designs and R&D testing
Work side-by-side with engineering teams to improve designs and manufacturability
Design, build, and modify fixtures, jigs, and custom tooling
Support production and assembly with one-off and low-volume components
Inspect and verify parts using precision measurement tools
Contribute ideas to refine manufacturing processes and product performance
What We’re Looking For
7+ years of machining experience (prototype or R&D environment strongly preferred)
Strong blueprint reading & GD&T skills
Experience with manual and CNC machines (setup & operation)
Working knowledge of CAD/CAM (Mastercam, Fusion 360, Solid Works CAM, or similar)
Basic G-code programming experience
Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other inspection tools
A creative, detail-driven problem solver who enjoys collaboration
⭐ Bonus Points
Experience with Proto
TRAK controls
Background machining one-off or low-volume prototype parts
CMM or advanced digital inspection experience
