Position Summary

MDB Transportation is seeking a reliable Port Dispatcher to serve as the communication link between truck drivers and dispatch. The role requires at least two years of dispatch experience within the Port of LA/Long Beach, knowledge of all terminals, and proficiency with terminal appointments, routing, per diem, demurrage, and minimization of dry runs.

Responsibilities

• Schedule appointments for empty terminals or export loads when requested or missed loads.
• Dispatch work to drivers according to scheduled appointments.
• Ensure deliveries are on time and report any delays to customers.
• Prioritize calls and texts according to urgency and importance.
• Monitor GPS to route and know the status of drivers to maximize turnaround.
• Update computer systems in real time with appropriate route or delivery status as well as in/out times.
• Add notes into TMW (dispatch system) for any delays, dry runs, yard stops, missed loads, missed empty appointments, or anything of that nature.

Competencies and Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of port drayage dispatching.
• Proficient in English and Spanish (oral and written).
• Knowledge of TMW dispatch system, Excel, Google Sheets, and other data‑keeping programs.
• Organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent communication, active listening, and judgment skills.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations.
• Fast learner and adaptable to fast‑paced environments.

Pay

Hourly pay ranges from $25.00 to $28.00, depending on experience.
