Drug and Alcohol Counselor-SUD
Sierra Health and Wellness use evidence-based methods to restore families, relationships, and self-worth. The Substance Use Disorder Certified Counselor (SUDCC) or Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) is integral in helping clients achieve goals. Our Concord inpatient facility houses 29 clients receiving specialized and personal care. Our newly remodeled location offers amenities to both clients and staff.

The SUD Counselor is responsible for assessing and monitoring clients’ behaviors while in treatment for chemical and alcohol abuse and dependency. The counselor develops treatment plans to reduce or eliminate substance abuse or criminal thinking. Core duties include:
- Conduct assessments and participate in treatment planning.
- Document client behavior in group participation and counseling.
- Provide crisis management and counseling services.
- Lead group therapies and education for clients and families.
- Coordinate treatment and discharge planning.
- Respond to emergencies and initiate action.
- Maintain accurate notes for all groups and interactions.
- Engage clients individually at least twice a week.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or GED.
- Certification as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor by a California Regulatory Agency.
- One year of experience in Drug and Alcohol counseling.
- Familiarity with HIPAA and client confidentiality.
- Valid license or certification from an approved health care licensing board.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Education and Experience
- Two to five years of experience in drug and alcohol counseling.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
