Position Summary
This role reports to the Inspections Manager and involves testing and inspecting installed fire sprinkler and alarm systems. The Inspector will oversee and train a Helper on proper inspection procedures, build strong customer relationships, and deliver high‑quality inspections in a fast‑paced, ladder‑intensive environment.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities- Inspects and tests installed fire sprinkler and alarm systems to determine adequacy of design and verify all equipment functions properly.
- Visually inspects the entire building to identify corroded heads or other hazards, operates valves to ensure they open and shut, ensures bells ring, flushes the system, identifies obstructions, etc.
- Completes required inspection reports, documents deficiencies, and forwards reports to required parties.
- Schedules inspections, service, pump tests, walk‑throughs, and related activities.
- May perform service work such as replacing valves, gauges, flow switches, tamper switches, etc. if qualified.
- Communicates with customers to schedule inspections and verifies appropriate protective equipment is worn on site.
- Trains Helpers to ensure they are ready for promotion.
- Ensures all work and safety rules are followed.
- Keeps company vehicle clean and serviced.
- Maintains clean, safe, and orderly work areas.
- Attends monthly safety meetings at the local branch.
- Works outside on job sites for long hours in all seasons, including summer.
Standing, sitting, bending, lifting, and climbing with a maximum lift of 70 pounds.
Qualifications- 3+ years of Fire Sprinkler and Fire Alarm inspection experience.
- NICET II Certification or equivalent.
- Construction experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to supervise each project and all Helpers on the job site.
- Travel within the local community required.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Organized, professional, and a good communicator.
- Must wear proper protective equipment as required on all job sites.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Successful completion of a pre‑employment drug test and background check, including 10 years of employment verification.
