Camp Counselor
Concord Recreation is seeking counselors for Summer Camp 2026. Counselors must love and embrace not only the camp environment but also the camp philosophy that campers come first, we work as a team, and summer is a time to play, learn, and grow. The primary responsibility of a Camp Counselor is to manage a group of 15-20 campers each day as they participate in various camp activities and events.
Counselors are responsible for campers’ physical and emotional safety and must ensure that campers are supported and welcomed at all times.
Pay range: $15.00 - $16.75/hour; starting pay based on qualifications. This is an hourly, part-time position, consisting of up to 37.5 hours per week.

General SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Directors, Camp Counselors manage a group of 15-20 campers each day as they participate in various camp activities and events.
Essential Job FunctionsExternal and internal applicants, as well as position incumbents who become disabled under the Americans with Disabilities Act, must be able to perform the essential job functions either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation.
- Work with campers grades K-6 with and without disabilities, in an outdoor day camp setting.
- Participate in all camp activities with the camp group including swimming, sports, art, science, music, free time, and field trips.
- Communicate with lead counselors, directors, specialists, nurse and parents regarding camper’s daily experiences.
- Enforce rules, regulations, and policies to ensure the safety of all children in attendance.
- Build relationships with campers to foster friendly, supportive and nurturing group dynamics.
- Maintain a practice of stewardship for recreation property including proper accounting and storage of all camp equipment.
- Other tasks as requested by the Camp Director or Recreation staff.

Special Requirements
- Minimum two years of high school education; candidates pursuing a college degree in recreation, education, or related fields preferred.
- Experience participating in or working at a summer program or camp preferred.
- Must be 16 years of age or older (work permit needed if under 18).
- CPR and first aid certified (certification available during staff training).
- Available to work for the entire summer and be available for staff training, preferred.
