Diagnostic Sonographer

Overview

Diagnostic Sonographer role at Emerson Health
. Reports to the Section Leader, Mammography/Sonography. Utilizes high frequency sound waves and other diagnostic techniques for medical diagnosis. Produces and evaluates ultrasound images and related data.

• Perform ultrasound examinations across vascular, OB/GYN, abdominal and small parts as required.
• Produce, assess, and document ultrasound images and related data.
• Interpret and communicate findings in alignment with clinical needs and terminology.
• Maintain patient safety and comfort throughout procedures.

Education

• Graduate of an educational program that meets eligibility for ARDMS registry.

Experience

• Previous experience as a sonographer strongly preferred.

Licensure and/or Certification

• Current registration with ARDMS, or ARDMS-eligible with ARDMS achieved within 1 year of hire.
• BLS healthcare provider required.

Skills

• Ultrasound scanning skills in vascular, OB/GYN, abdominal and small parts.
• Ability to understand oral and written medical/radiological/sonographic terminology.
• Comprehension of cross-sectional anatomy and correlation with anatomical structures.
• Ability to identify pathological processes.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.
