Patient Service Representative

Reporting to the Lead Patient Service Representative, the Patient Service Representative (PSR) rotates among X‑Ray, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, CT, and Mammography departments. The PSR greets patients and visitors, generates and sorts exam requisitions, and accurately enters exams into the HIS/RIS system. The PSR maintains a high level of patient confidentiality via HIPAA guidelines and is committed to Service Excellence at all times.

• Greet patients and visitors entering the department.
• Generate and sort exam requisitions.
• Accurately enter exams into the HIS/RIS system.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
• Provide service excellence consistently.

• Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Terminology course preferred.
  • Previous coursework related to administrative skills preferred.
• Experience
  • One year in a medical office environment preferred.
  • Customer service, data entry, and HIS/RIS experience a plus.
• Licensure and/or Certification
  • None required.

  • Organization and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively using medical terminology.
  • Accurate data entry skills.
  • Courteous and professional manner when dealing with public both in person and on the phone.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, answer phones, give verbal reports, generate paperwork, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Maintains a standard of performance that promotes Service Excellence.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
