Specimen Technician - Hospital / Concord, MA / Monday to Friday, 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Pay range: $17.33 - $25.99 / hour, with possible shift differential of 10% for second shift and 15% for third shift. Additional factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, market and organizational considerations determine the final offer. Eligible candidates may also receive an annual performance bonus.

- Demonstrate excellent proficiency in test ordering policies, hospital processing procedures, specimen requirements, sample preparation, Quantum, and compliance/legal requirements.
- Maintain knowledge and competency of the Hospital LIS system (client specific).
- Print Quest performed testing reports.
- Interpret specimen flow/tracking data using all available reports and resources.
- Responsible for supply ordering processes.
- Perform remote accessioning (pre‑accessioning) as required.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to specimen types, missing information, TIQ, TNP, additional sample requests, and other client issues.
- Provide exceptional customer service as the liaison between the customer and Quest performing laboratory.
- Manage inbound calls with a positive client interaction.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with hospital laboratory staff and Quest Diagnostics sales and other organizational functions.
- Communicate effectively information regarding problem‑solving with specimens, test cancellations, testing requirements, billing requirements with various hospital staff.
- 1–3 years of working experience.
- Medical background preferred, including medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.
- Previous experience in a hospital laboratory environment preferred.
- Data‑entry background with the ability to enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.
- Work in a biohazard environment, practicing good safety habits.
- Able to sit or stand for long periods.
- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a production environment.
- Hospital LIS systems knowledge or experience is a plus.
- Command of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Client interfacing role requiring strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
- Demonstrated data‑entry skills to effectively utilize both the Quest Diagnostics system and the hospital client systems.
- Maintains composure while working under pressure.
- Reflects good judgment when determining what action to take when resolving problems.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills that foster a positive environment.
- Demonstrates flexibility and ability to adapt to change.
