Phlebotomy Training Coordinator - 40 hours/week 12-8:30pm $5,000 sign on bonus
Reports to the Client Service Manager. The coordinator trains new phlebotomists hired in the lab, Physician Office, or other areas to follow proper lab protocol and procedure when drawing blood. The role also maintains the training manual, communicates changes in protocol, and assists with daily operational issues and scheduling.
Job Functions- Work with Phlebotomy Trainers, CP Coordinator, Client Service Manager, LIS Manager, and other Laboratory Supervisors to ensure successful training of new phlebotomists.
- Develop and maintain individualized training schedules and a training syllabus.
- Coordinate training in outpatient areas, floors, Emergency Department, Blood Bank, and laboratory computer operations.
- Maintain current checklists of required phlebotomy tasks and file training reports in appropriate folders.
- Meet weekly with trainers/trainees to provide guidance, ensure competency, document re‑training, and determine readiness for progressive rotation.
- Conduct question/answer sessions to troubleshoot concerns.
- Communicate progress and performance concerns to the Client Service Manager.
- Coordinate training on new phlebotomy products and schedule internal and external site training.
- Organize daily phlebotomy operational needs, workflow priorities, assignments, and identify service problems.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and implement changes with the Client Service Manager.
- Maintain a working knowledge of laboratory medicine, computer systems, and current procedures through meetings, in‑services, and continuing education.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduate of a Phlebotomy Training Course preferred.
- Two or more years of phlebotomy experience.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
- Previous training or teaching experience.
- Effective teaching/instruction skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Computer skills:
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. - Ability to maintain confidential information.
