US Army Corps of Engineers – North Atlantic Division (NAD) – New England District – Concord, MA – Salary $65,000–$80,000 – Permanent – Direct Hire Authority (TARP – DHA) – Full-time – Mid‑Senior level.
Position OverviewThis Direct Hire Authority position seeks a qualified candidate to serve as Supervisory Geologist. The incumbent will lead the Geology Section, communicate mission objectives, assign work, manage workload, train subordinates, monitor progress, represent the section in reporting, and manage personnel issues.
Responsibilities- Communicate Geology Section mission, plans, and objectives to subordinates.
- Integrate subordinates into section strategies, goals, and work plans.
- Provide work assignments, milestones, issues, and deadlines.
- Identify, distribute, and balance workload; assist subordinates in problem solving and training.
- Monitor work progress and review completed work to ensure instructions were met.
- Represent the section in reporting on work accomplishments and findings; request resources.
- Report to supervisor on individual and section work accomplishments and provide input.
- Resolve simple informal complaints; refer formal grievances to the supervisor.
- Inform supervisor of personnel management issues and communicate employee benefits and activities.
Basic Requirements:
- Degree in geology plus at least 20 additional semester hours in any combination of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological science, structural, chemical, civil, mining or petroleum engineering, computer science, planetary geology, comparative planetology, geophysics, meteorology, hydrology, oceanography, physical geography, marine geology, and cartography.
- OR a combination of education and experience – coursework as above plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Minimum Experience Requirement: One year of specialized experience that includes independent conduct of geological studies, responsibility of contracts, and overseeing efforts related to assigned projects. This qualifies as typical work at the next lower GS‑12 level.

- Relocation (PCS) expenses may be authorized (subject to available budget) if the selecting official determines the relocation is in the best interests of the government.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The incumbent is required to file an OGE Form 450, Financial Disclosure Report upon entering on duty in this position and annually thereafter.
- Incumbent will obtain and maintain a Professional Geologist registration during the course of time this position is held.
- The incumbent must be capable of conducting visits to HTRW project sites and may be required to enroll in an approved medical surveillance program.
- Incumbent will complete the 40‑hr HAZWOPER training course within six months of employment.
- Incumbent will complete the Supervisory Development Course within one year of appointment.
