Reports to: Director of Finance

St. Paul's School seeks a Staff Accountant whose primary responsibilities will include accounting for investments, fixed assets, cash activity, and other various account reconciliations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of employee’s supervisor.

  • Responsible for the daily review of fixed asset invoices to ensure proper accounting
  • Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of fixed asset accounts with facilities and general ledger
  • Assist with implementation of fixed asset module in the financial system
  • Responsible for the accounting for the school’s investments in collaboration with outside consultants
  • Monthly reconciliation of cash accounts and daily review and recording of cash activity
  • Preparation of monthly general ledger entries
  • Reconcile various balance sheet accounts
  • Serve as the backup for the accounting coordinator with accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Assist with the month end close process
  • Assist with preparation of audit related schedules and note disclosures
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance

Qualification Requirements:

  • Four-year degree in accounting/finance or similar field of study.
  • Two to five years of accounting experience, preferably with some experience in non-profit accounting.
  • Microsoft Office (specifically advanced skills with Excel)
  • Experience with, or ability to learn, Blackbaud accounting software
  • Complex problem solving and analytical skills
  • Prioritization and multi-tasking skills in a demanding and fast paced environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prepare accurate reports from varied statistical information

Normal work schedule is a minimum of 40 hours per week, full year, typically 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
