Sr. Property Accountant

A well-established property management organization is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to manage the financial accounting for a portfolio of properties. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing and analyzing financial statements, and partnering closely with Property Managers and the accounting team.

• Prepare journal entries and monthly financial statements.
• Complete monthly financial reporting.
• Analyze and explain monthly budget-to-actual variances.
• Review A/P, A/R, prepaid schedules, and cost center transactions for accuracy and proper coding.
• Complete and verify bank reconciliations for all cash accounts.
• Partner with Property Managers to review property financial performance.
• Manage security deposit accounting in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Maintain fixed asset schedules and record depreciation.
• Assist with year-end audits, tax preparation, and auditor requests.
• Support annual budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Prepare financial reporting for lenders, investors, and regulatory agencies.
• Support accounting system improvements and process efficiencies.
• Attend occasional Board Meetings and assist with annual budget-versus-actual reporting.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• 3+ years of related accounting experience.
• Property management or real estate accounting experience preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
