Program Overview

The Therapeutic Support Worker is part of a dynamic team that provides support to families and children in the home and community who are involved with the child protection system. Therapeutic support workers assist families by supervising family visits and providing supportive counseling, health and safety education, basic parenting education and assisting with resource/coordination of services. This is a flexible hourly position, with some visits taking place during after school/evening hours and the possibility of occasional weekends.

What We’re Looking For
  • Develop and implement treatment plans to identify the goals and objectives families will work on;
  • Provide supports to help families reach their goals and increase safety for the child/ren;
  • Help families increase their skills to effectively parent their children during supervised visitation;
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, families and community providers;
  • Assist families in using community resources to meet social, medical, educational, vocational and financial needs;
  • Facilitate and coordinate family visitations; transport children and/or their families.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma with 4 years of experience working with families required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field with 2 years of experience preferred;
  • Must be at least 22 years of age;
  • Understanding of and ability to work positively with children and parents with mental health challenges and/or intellectual disabilities;
  • Ability to provide documentation such as a valid driver’s license, evidence of automobile insurance and a clear criminal record and central registry check as required to work in community services;
  • Ability to drive your own safe, running, and reliable vehicle with mileage reimbursement provided by the agency;
  • Candidates selected for hire must successfully complete all required background checks before starting employment.
