Associate Toddler Teacher - Mary Stuart Gile ECE Center

Join the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire in supporting early childhood education as an Associate Toddler Teacher at the Mary Stuart Gile Early Learning Center on the campus of NHTI in Concord.

Base Pay Range

$16.85/hr - $18.56/hr

Summary

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire supports 200 staff across 30 programs. The Mary Stuart Gile Early Learning Center is a laboratory school demonstrating best practices in early childhood education, with student teachers working alongside experienced staff. This full‑time Associate Teacher role focuses on high‑quality, emergent curriculum for young children while upholding the organization’s mission and ensuring health and safety of all members.

Duties
  • Actively engage with children, encourage exploration, and use positive child guidance strategies.
  • Plan and outline curriculum to meet individual needs of youth, incorporating elements of an emergent curriculum.
  • Establish and maintain program goals to ensure health and safety of all members.
  • Evaluate programs continually, track outcome metrics, and verify that activities respond to member needs and address gender and cultural diversity.
  • Use child observation notes as a tool for curriculum planning and maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records.
  • Account for all members in assigned group by name and face.
  • Oversee implementation of NAEYC standards, GSQ (when applicable), Culture DNA code, and BGCCNNH and CCLU rules and policies regarding safety, compliance, and best practices.
  • Dispense medications, administer first aid as needed, and communicate all occurrences to families.
  • Assist in cleaning, organizing, and maintaining classroom well‑being and upkeep.
Program Development, Implementation, and Supervision
  • Ensure proper record‑keeping and weekly reporting, including activities and events conducted in the membership/finance system.
  • Facilitate open, effective, professional verbal and written communication with families, staff, and children.
  • Supervise classroom staff, students, and volunteers; provide regular feedback on job performance.
  • Support volunteers and practicum students by modeling techniques that connect theory to practice.
  • Lead planning meetings with the teaching team.
  • Increase the visibility of club programs via daily schedule postings, announcements of upcoming events through social media and family emails.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Be an associate teacher qualified before November 6, 2017, with at least 9 credits in related coursework or 1,000 hours of supervised child care experience in a licensed program, and knowledge of child growth and development through specified educational or experiential pathways.
  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Have knowledge of current methods, principles, and techniques of teaching and curriculum development.
  • Demonstrate ability to plan and implement quality programs, including creative and artistic teaching strategies.
  • Be able to form developmentally appropriate relationships with children and promote positive behavior.
  • Be capable of motivating members and managing behavior problems with patience.
  • Have organizational and supervisory skills to maintain a safe environment.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, families, and community members.
  • Willing to maintain an appropriate dress code and adapt to different learning styles.
  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid certifications per Bureau of Childcare licensing requirements.
  • May be required to drive the club van/short bus periodically and possess a safe driving record.
  • Assist in cleaning and organizing the club, maintain confidentiality, and be willing to travel occasionally between locations.
Additional Expectations
  • All candidates offered a position will submit for an FBI fingerprint background check and a background check through the State of NH Criminal Records Dept. and First Advantage. The State of NH Childcare Licensing Bureau may prohibit employment if a disqualifying finding exists.
  • The organization has a zero‑tolerance policy for abuse; mistreatment or abuse by an employee will result in disciplinary action, including termination and cooperation with law enforcement.
