School/Organization:St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire, is a completely residential, co-educational secondary school affiliated with the Episcopal Church and welcoming to people of all faiths. The Penn Boarding School Teaching Residency (BSTR) program is a groundbreaking collaboration between the Graduate School of Education of the University of Pennsylvania and a consortium of the nation's leading boarding schools. With an innovative and comprehensive curriculum designed specifically for the boarding schools' unique setting, the program provides aspiring teachers a two-year opportunity to receive a Master's in Science of Education in concert with the exceptional fellowship program offered by St.

Paul's School.

The typical workload for a Teaching Fellow l's School consists of:

  • Teaching one or two classes each term;
  • Coaching an interscholastic team or co-curricular activity for two terms;
  • Living on campus and serving as a residential adviser;
  • Meeting weekly with the other Director of the Teaching Fellow Program and the other Teaching Fellows;
  • Working collaboratively with an assigned faculty mentor, including weekly meetings and class observations.

The workload from Penn for the Masters in Science of Education includes:

  • Summer work at Penn each year;
  • Online work with the cohort of Fellows from the other schools;
  • One weekend a term at one of the consortium schools with faculty from the schools and from Penn;
  • Coursework with a mentor l's School;
  • Regular reading and writing assignments from the BSTR at the Penn Graduate School of Education.
REQUIREMENTS AND

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Undergraduate degree in a Humanities discipline is required.

Experience: As part of residential boarding school, the candidate must be committed to working and living with adolescents and supporting their academic, social, and emotional growth. The ideal candidate is highly organized and collaborative, with strong time management skills. While prior teaching experience is not required, relevant experience working with young people is preferred.
