Project Manager – Software Product Development

We are Systematix and we are currently looking for a results-driven Project Manager to join our team on a contract basis.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
Our client is a global leader in scientific instrumentation and analytical technologies. They are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead software development initiatives that support next-generation life science products. You will oversee end-to-end delivery of Windows-based applications developed in C#/.NET, guiding cross-functional engineering teams through the full product development lifecycle. This role requires a blend of strong project management discipline, technical fluency, and the ability to drive alignment across software developers, testers, technical writers, and scientific domain experts.

ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead software development projects focused on building Windows-based applications using C# and .NET for scientific instrumentation.
  • Manage cross-functional teams of 4–8 people, including developers, testers, technical writers, and scientific domain specialists.
  • Negotiate with functional managers to secure resources and ensure delivery commitments are met.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and execution plans using standard PMP methodologies.
  • Ensure adherence to the product development lifecycle and all project-related quality processes, documentation requirements, and compliance standards.
  • Monitor progress, identify risks, and proactively remove impediments to maintain project momentum.
  • Communicate project status and risks to senior leadership and stakeholders through presentations, reporting, and project tracking tools.
  • Facilitate issue resolution and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the PMO and product development teams.

ABOUT THE REQUIRED SKILLS

  • 3+ years of experience managing software development projects.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, XP, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to operate effectively in ambiguous or fast-paced environments.
  • Demonstrated capability in project risk management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence resource managers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to build team cohesion, facilitate conflict resolution, and drive consensus.
  • Technical aptitude with the ability to understand and translate complex scientific and software concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Experience managing project budgets, timelines, deliverables, and scope.
  • Familiarity with Jira/Confluence, SharePoint, MS Project, or similar tools.
  • PMP and/or ACP certification is highly beneficial.
  • Background in software development is highly beneficial.
  • Bio/Life Sciences domain knowledge is highly beneficial.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a contract position supporting product development teams in a highly technical environment. This is a hybrid role that requires a 3 day/.week onsite presence in our client’s North Toronto offices.
