A Day in the Life as a Substitute Bus Driver
Responsibilities- Operates vehicle maintaining high safety standards and passenger confidence and following established routes and schedules in a timely manner.
- Responsible for accurate communication pertaining to changes in passenger itinerary and records and reports transportation data, as required.
- Maintains proper vehicle appearance and cleanliness, inside and out including possessing sensitivity to vehicle performance and limitations.
- Responsible for operating proper communications of the two‑way radio system.
- Assists passengers with disabilities.

You are part of something bigger than just your program and every CAPBM employee is accountable for delivering the highest quality of service and support to all of our stakeholders including program participants, clients, volunteers, coworkers, contractors, vendors, and any other individual touched by the work we do.
Requirements Qualifications to Be a Substitute Bus Driver To Excel In This Role, You’ll Need- Education:
High school diploma or equivalency credential. - Experience:
One year of bus driving experience, including transporting passengers. - Skills:
- Characteristics:
Ability to be polite and courteous at all times in dealing with passengers and negotiating traffic. - Technical:
Successful completion of criminal record and driver record checks. Valid NH CDL‑B with passenger and air brake endorsements. Valid NHDOT medical card. Complete driver training courses within required timeframe and have obtained a Certificate of Completion. (Defensive Driving, Passenger Assistance and Emergency Evacuation). Must pass Agency Drug & Alcohol pre‑employment testing to be qualified. Required to participate in random drug and alcohol testing as established by Agency Drug & Alcohol policies for safety sensitive employees.
- Characteristics:
Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license are required, as some travel within the community may be necessary.
