Position PurposeThis position assists in the electrical and controls design, operation, and troubleshooting of processing equipment and facilities globally including new installations, retrofits and ongoing equipment support.
This position is initially hybrid (3 days onsite) with possibly transitioning to fully remote.
Key Job Activities- Designing, maintaining, implementing, or improving electrical instruments, facilities, components, equipment products for automated systems
- Design and implementation of various projects PLC's and controls for incineration and autoclave technologies, shredding, boiler, steam, wastewater and material handling systems
- Manage equipment compliance and/or performance testing and QA/QC processes including developing of specifications and technical drawings for power and controls systems.
- Assist plant teams with troubleshooting and/or corrective maintenance on unexpected equipment failures and determine the proper course of action in deciding resolution to maintenance issues. In some cases, this work may occur after hours.
- Operating computer assisted design and engineering software and equipment including PLC's and CAD.
- Estimate material labor and budget costs for electrical engineering and construction projects.
- Other duties as required or requested.
- Education equivalent to Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
- 5-10 years of work experience, preferably in the heavy industrial, waste or medical industries
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and manipulation for basic concept plans
- Proficiency of PLC and other automation control systems for incinerator, sterilizer, wastewater treatment and material handling equipment is required
- Experience with Allen Bradley PLC is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
- Must have the ability to work independently, unsupervised (with guidance as necessary) and be a self‑starter
- Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills, possess solid business judgment and strong attention to detail
- Demonstrates ability to manage multiple projects and working unsupervised
- Demonstrates continual improvement of productivity and worker safety performance
- Balancing – maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing or crouching on narrow, or slippery surfaces
- Climbing – ascend or descend ladders, stairs, ramps and the like using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized
- Crouching – bend the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine
- Grasping – apply pressure to an object with the fingers and palm
- Hearing – perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction
- Kneeling – bend legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees
- Lifting – raise objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position‑to‑position
- Pulling – use upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion
- Pushing – use upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward
- Reaching – extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
- Repetitive Motion – substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers
