This position will work 30 hours per week with a flex schedule (7:30am-5:30pm).
The Clinical Assistant is responsible for providing and coordinating orthopedic patient care which includes performing routine office procedures and testing, participating in patient teaching, communicating effectively with others, and assisting the physician/mid-level provider in the delivery of patient care.
Essential Functions- Updating clinical notes in electronic medical systems
- Completing phone triage
- Casting and bracing
- Performing routine office procedures
- Providing patient education
- Knowledge of EMR (Epic)
- Ability to triage patient telephone calls and provide accurate assessment.
- Ability to educate patients, families and staff regarding orthopedic care.
- Effective communication with patients, physicians, mid-level providers and co-workers.
Graduate of an accredited program for medical assistants, athletic training, nursing or a college degree in a related field.
New graduates are welcome.
Certification and Licensure- CMA/RMA must be registered/certified through one of the following national organizations:
American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Health Career Association (NHA), American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Medical Certification Association (AMCA). - EMTs will need Emergency Medical Technician certification.
- ATCs will need to be board certified as Athletic Trainer.
- Active & Current Driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Travel to other OC locations may be required.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Education required:
Graduate of an accredited program for medical office assistants or college degree in biological sciences. - Experience required:
Prefer one year in medical office; orthopedic experience preferred. - Professional license or certification requirements:
Certification from American Association of Medical Assistants or registration through American Medical Technologies;
Registered or Licensed Nurse;
Athletic Trainer; CPR certification or ability to obtain;
Valid driver’s license to travel to meetings and other offices.
