Position: Medical Assistant Atrium Health Cabarrus Pain Management FT

- Friday . This position is sign-on bonus eligible. Based on eligibility.

Pay Range

$22.50 - $33.75

Major Responsibilities
  • Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows all policies and procedures, and maintains training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care.
  • Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health, etc.).
  • Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
  • Performs lab related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking. Point of Care testing (POCT) per standing order/provider order. Completes CLIA waived tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing in adherence to CLIA standards.
  • Administers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration.
  • Performs other duties as assigned such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals.
  • Demonstrates effective and timely communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation.
  • Maintains a clean work environment ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately. Ensures equipment and supplies are in working order, and areas are appropriately stocked.
  • May assist with training and onboarding of other teammates.
  • May serve as a role champion or on a committee.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Age-specific information is developed further in departmental job standards.
Minimum

Job Requirements Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or 2 years of verifiable full-time Medical Assistant experience within the last 5 years; or completion of military clinical training per DD214 in lieu of formal MA program.
Certification / License
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through recognized national organizations (AAMA, NHA, NCCT, AMT, NAHP, NRMA, NRMA, or equivalent).
  • Successful completion of Atrium Health competency assessment.
  • Wake Forest, Floyd & Navicent and IL/WI divisions have region-specific MA certification requirements as listed in job standards.
Experience
  • Two years of clinical Medical Assistant experience.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Ability to perform routine and complex medical assistant tasks with demonstrated competency.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport with patients, teammates and physicians.
  • Proficient computer skills, EMR familiarity, and basic keyboarding.
  • Customer service skills to support a positive patient experience.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds; for heavier lifts, use patient handling equipment with a teammate when available.
  • Exposed to hazards (mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood and body fluids); wear protective clothing as needed.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
