Operations Manager, Material Handler
Job Summary
We are seeking a Warehouse Coordinator to facilitate-to-day warehouse and logistics functions at GM Performance Power Units. This role will perform shipping and receiving functions, execution of warehouse processes, inventory management/storage practices, coordinate outbound shipments, and internal distribution of components and raw materials critical for the manufacturing and assembly operations. This position requires high attention to detail and a deep understanding of material flow in a high-performance engineering environment and critical support function for the manufacturing, assembly, and development of our Formula 1 power unit.
Key Responsibilities- Perform daily duties that include shipping, receiving, and material management.
- Verify documentation accuracy, including certificates of conformity, inspection reports, and shipping documentation.
- Enter goods and documentation data accurately into the company’s ERP/WMS and Inventory Systems.
- Coordinate internal routing of received items to appropriate departments, work centers, or storage locations (e.g., coordinating with Quality to perform extensive quality inspections).
- Operate mechanical lift, winch, forklifts, or vehicles.
- Take inventory of materials shipped or received.
- Store, count, weigh, and open materials received.
- Fill warehouse or shop orders (pick and pack) for parts to support production and assembly.
- Coordinate outbound transportation arrangements.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of warehousing and logistical processes and documentation standards.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with warehouse processes – receiving, inspection, put away, pick, pack, ship within a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of manufacturing and supply chain processes, ideally within a high-performance or precision‑engineering context.
- Deep understanding of inventory control, traceability, internal logistics, and efficient material flow.
- Proficiency with ERP, WMS, or inventory management systems (experience with IFS is a plus).
- Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication abilities are important for collaborating with various departments and addressing inventory or material issues.
- Required to pass a Forklift certification and safe operation of material handling equipment is essential.
