- Minimum Years of
Experience:
2 years Med/Tele - Traveler radius rule: permanent address must be >50 miles outside unit
- First‑time travelers: not accepted
- Patient Types / Common Diagnoses: ESRD, AKI, fluid resuscitation/blood products, medical overflow, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis
- Staffing Ratios: RN 1:4‑5, CNA Days 1:7, CNA Nights 1:11‑14
- Required Licenses &
Certifications:
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (plus any state RN license) - Preferred Certification:
Peritoneal Dialysis experience
- Perform PIV insertions, dialysis catheter management, NG tube placement & management, Pleurx drain care, various surgical drain care, and chest tube management
- Assist nursing team with ADLs, bathing, Foley care, mobility, turning, repositioning, phlebotomy, 12‑lead EKGs, and glucometer checks
- Coordinate multidisciplinary support: charge nurse, IV/VAT team, resource nurse (when available), RT and hospitalist (24/7), telemetry monitoring if ordered
- Utilize EMR (Epic) and IV pumps (Alaris); document patient care accurately
- Participate in unit safety net protocols and quality initiatives
- Engage in team‑based patient education and discharge planning
- CNA – full clinical support
- Charge Nurse – patient assignment
- IV/VAT Team – collaboration on IV therapy
- Resource Nurse – when staffing allows
- RT (24/7) – not unit‑specific
- Hospitalist (24/7) – not unit‑specific
- Telemetry monitoring – remote via off‑unit arrhythmia center when ordered

Phillips - Unit‑specific equipment: bladder scanner, EKG machine, transport monitor
