Job Objective
Assist the Director of Nursing with the development and maintenance of nursing service objectives, standards, policies, procedures; help implement these programs, policies and procedures; and administer specific assigned areas of responsibility, including quality assurance, staff development, recruitment, hiring, orientation and payroll.
Qualifications- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Registered nurse license in good standing with the State Board of Nursing in North Carolina.
- Previous experience as a shift charge nurse in a long‑term care facility.
- Previous supervisory and administrative experience in a geriatric long‑term care setting preferred.
- Must be able to use the English language to satisfy the communications and record‑keeping requirements.
- Must maintain a neat, well‑groomed appearance adhering to the facility’s dress code.
- Must satisfy all established licensing and certification requirements applicable to this position.
- Must be able to safely perform all essential job functions without harm to self or others.
- Must comply with the facility’s drug‑testing and substance‑abuse program and policies.
- Help establish nursing services philosophy and objectives.
- Assist in developing and maintaining nursing service goals, standards of nursing practice, policy and procedure manuals, and written job descriptions for nursing personnel.
- Implement federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to nursing services.
- Participate in establishing and maintaining management information systems to facilitate administration of the facility’s nursing department.
- Direct the orientation of new employees through a plan of scheduled meetings that introduce new staff to programs, policies, procedures, and expectations.
- Help develop and direct the facility’s training programs for nursing staff, especially nursing assistants.
- Function as the Quality Assessment and Assurance Coordinator.
- Monitor policies and procedures for nursing services and recommend changes as needed.
- Prepare and monitor work schedules for nursing staff, ensuring adequate coverage.
- Complete bi‑weekly payroll for nursing staff and submit to the Business Manager according to the established schedule.
- Report staffing and/or payroll problems to the Director of Nursing.
- Make rounds in nursing/assisted‑living units to monitor resident care and needs.
- Respond to emergency calls from residents in apartments and garden homes during duty, addressing existing needs and circumstances.
- Maintain a knowledge of licensing and certification regulations, monitor changes, and assist in implementation of federal, state, and county regulations through staff.
- Act as Director of Nursing in the Director’s absence.
- Work tactfully and cooperatively with residents, families, visitors, and staff throughout the facility.
- Abide by department policies, practices, and standards of care.
- Properly use and care for equipment and supplies.
- $10,000 Sign‑On Bonus.
