Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a NC or compact RN license and strong cardiac and stroke skills.
Responsibilities- Work in a 23-bed Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes cardiac (chest pain), stroke, syncope, dizziness, respiratory illness, and various diagnoses
- Typical RN to patient ratio is 1:4-5
- Electronic Medical Record system is EPIC
- Required to work every other weekend and 75% of holidays
- Floating required within Region 1, which includes multiple hospitals and freestanding emergency departments
- Mid-shift floating paid for travel time
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Responsibilities include comprehensive care of patients with complex medical and telemetry needs, including stroke and cardiac management
- Support staff includes supervisor, charge RN, RT, hospitalist, phlebotomy, and IV/VAT team
- Travelers are oriented with NEO and two days of departmental training
- Great team environment with supportive culture and team activities
- Will consider first-time travelers, though experienced travelers are preferred
- Active NC or compact RN license
- Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required for Resource Team
- Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms, manage stroke cases, perform trach care, PIV starts, chest tube and drain management, and administer medication drips (cardiac, heparin, blood products, IV fluids)
- Experience with Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing
- Professional reference from a current or recent supervisor required
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the home unit
