Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN with a NC or compact RN license and strong Med/Tele skills for a travel nursing assignment.

• Work in a hospital-based Med/Surg Tele unit with 10 beds and an average daily census of 8 patients
• Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, and angina cases
• Nurse to patient ratio is 1:5, with CNA support at a 1:10 ratio
• Three 12-hour day shifts per week (7a-7p or )
• Weekend rotation is every other weekend and 75% holiday coverage is required
• Floating is required within a multi-facility region, including Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division
• EMR used is Epic; IV pumps are Alaris, and medication dispensing is Omnicell
• Daily responsibilities include stroke care, cardiac monitoring, tube/drain management, and medication administration including drips and blood products
• Support available from a supervisor, charge RN, resource RN, IV/VAT team, RT, hospitalist, and shared phlebotomy responsibilities
• Travelers participate in a two-day departmental orientation and New Employee Orientation
• Department fosters a team-oriented culture with opportunities for social engagement
• Scrub color is navy
• Free parking is available for employees
• Approval for up to 6 days off (excluding holidays) with contract extension required if hours are missed
• First-time travelers may be considered but are not preferred

• Active NC or compact RN license
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications; NIHSS required for Resource Team
• Minimum of 18 months Med/Tele RN experience required
• Strong skills in stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube and tube/drain management, PCA pumps, and medication drip management (including cardiac drips and blood products)
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Traveler’s permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the home unit
