Job Summary

The Busser supports the dietary and dining services team by maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming dining environment for residents, guests, and staff. This role assists with food and beverage delivery, clearing and resetting tables, and ensuring service stations are stocked and sanitary. The Busser works collaboratively with the front-of-house and kitchen teams to provide an exceptional dining experience consistent with company standards and regulatory guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
  • Experience in the food service industry preferred.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with servers, kitchen, and management.

  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, and carry trays or supplies for extended periods.

Essential Functions
  • Assemble and deliver resident meals, snacks, nourishments, and tube feedings according to prescribed diets and menus.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining areas, tables, chairs, and service stations before, during, and after meal service.
  • Clear, sanitize, and reset tables promptly between meal periods in accordance with infection control and safety standards.
  • Assist servers and dietary staff by delivering meals, beverages, and condiments to residents and guests as needed.
  • Stock service areas with clean utensils, napkins, glassware, condiments, and other dining supplies.
  • Transport soiled dishes and utensils to the dishwashing area and ensure proper separation and handling of waste.
  • Assist in setting up dining rooms for meal service, special events, or functions as directed by management.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control policies, including proper hand hygiene and use of PPE as required.
  • Communicate promptly with kitchen or service staff regarding resident needs, dietary requests, or special accommodations.
  • Maintain professional and cooperative interactions with residents, families, visitors, and staff.
  • Uphold resident rights, confidentiality, and facility standards of care.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws, including HIPAA and the Code of Conduct, completing required training and reporting concerns promptly.
Physical Demands
  • Always required to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently required to lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Frequently required to bend, reach, push, and pull.
  • Occasionally required to lift items up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Occasionally required to kneel, stoop, or crouch to clean or retrieve supplies.
  • Visual acuity to observe cleanliness, safety hazards, and dining room conditions.
Work Environment
  • Always works indoors in kitchen, dining, and food service areas.
  • Frequently exposed to heat, steam, noise, cleaning chemicals, and wet or slippery surfaces.
  • Occasionally exposed to odors and high-temperature equipment.
  • Works around other kitchen staff, residents, and occasional visitors; interacts courteously and professionally.
  • Must follow safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures at all times.
  • Rarely works outdoors except when delivering or transporting food supplies, or for events.
  • Never operates motor vehicles as part of job responsibilities.
