As a Technician I, you are a respected, experienced lead at your location—a master technician. You set an example, informally mentor others while learning from your manager, and are trusted to work independently on major and minor repairs, conduct road tests to diagnose problems, and complete maintenance tasks.

Main Responsibilities- Ensuring vehicles are maintained and safe for customers.
- Performing preventive maintenance services on trucks and trailer equipment with little or no supervision and in a timely manner.
- Repairing and troubleshooting major components such as engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, fuel system components, etc., including replacing complete assemblies.
- Keeping your work area clean and safe.
- Using Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic diagnostics.
- Learning new skills through Penske’s technician training program.
- Working on other projects and tasks assigned by supervisor.

- Advanced vehicle maintenance technology.

- 6 years of practical experience with truck and tractor‑trailer maintenance.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
- Specialized training and experience in diagnosing/troubleshooting major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses, ASE Certification, 608/609 certifications (preferred).
- Experience using all tools of the trade (welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools).
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
- Problem‑solving ability.

- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Willingness to work in non‑climate‑controlled conditions.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to understand and comply with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, or other information provided by Penske management.
- Ability to perform all work while adhering to DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies, including correct use of appropriate tools, PPE, machine guarding, and best safety practices.
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function.
- As this position requires driving Penske and customer vehicles, a current driver qualification file must be maintained, including annual MVR checks, DOT physical, and Safety Performance History records, as well as DOT drug screening for CDL holders.
- Willingness to travel within the district, work required schedule, location, complete application, background screening, and drug screening.
- Move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods during scheduled work.
- Use hands routinely to grasp, reach, touch, handle, feel, or operate tools or controls.
- Work safely at heights using ladders and elevated platforms.
- Work safely in all weather conditions.
- See and hear to safely navigate work environment.
- Regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally up to 100 lbs (45 kg); push/pull truck tires exceeding 100 lbs.
