Knowledge and ability to perform preventive maintenance services with general knowledge related to heavy‑duty and light‑duty trucks, including gasoline, diesel and CNG systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Help drivers complete daily post‑trip and vehicle safety inspection processes.
- Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment during safety lane and PMs.
- Complete lubrication and repair of lubrication points on vehicles as assigned on the daily schedule.
- Learn and utilize brake inspection procedures and complete documentation daily.
- Perform basic repairs and maintenance on heavy‑duty equipment, including rear load, front load, roll off, grapple, port‑a‑let, and other service type trucks, including chassis and body.
- Communicate with A & B technicians/drivers about vehicle issues and discuss preventative techniques.
- Complete all required paperwork/computer data entry, including documenting parts usage and time in/out on repair orders in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
- Conduct repairs utilizing factory service manuals.
- Maintain high standards of ethics and dependability.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Assist drivers with pre/post‑trip processes.
- Identify visible repairs required on vehicles: lights, mirrors, leaks, body damage.
- Assist/complete fluid top‑ups on vehicles including oil, hydraulic fluids, transmission fluid, DEF fluid.
- Know tire inspections and air pressure adjustments.
- Support technicians in repair of lights, wipers, mirrors.
- Understand and use lubrication charts for waste trucks.
- Lubricate components on trucks as scheduled (training provided).
- Assist technicians in repair of basic engine, transmission, brake, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, body components and systems related to heavy‑duty and light‑duty trucks.
- Know all tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles.
- Basic computer skills as required.
No CDL required.
OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES- Attend and participate in corporation‑sponsored training courses as assigned.
- Keep up to date on current technology as job‑appropriate and used by Waste Pro.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.
- Exposure to chemical and residential waste.
- Walking, jogging, twisting, crouching, lifting, and using personal protective equipment.
- Lift 50 to 100 times per day between the cab of a commercial motor vehicle.
- Lift 50–75 pounds from the floor to waist height unassisted; 50 pounds to shoulder height; 50 pounds to overhead.
- Push and pull 50 pounds unassisted.
- Frequently bend at the knees and waist, reach over your head, and twist at the waist (100–200 times).
- Work in extreme temperatures and weather environments.
Normal setting:
Inside and outside with occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions.
