Overview

Street Lighting Installation and Repair Operative

We are looking for a dedicated Skilled Operative to join our team, delivering essential highway lighting maintenance across the Cheshire East Highways network. This role involves working on both existing highway electrical equipment and new installations, helping to keep our roads safe, well-lit, and fully operational.

As a Skilled Operative, you will play a key part in providing a high-quality service to our customers by carrying out maintenance tasks to a consistently high standard. You’ll be expected to follow clear instructions and work well within a team.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out a variety of skilled tasks including the installation and repair of street lights, illuminated traffic bollards and illuminated signs.
  • Traffic management operations
  • Provide instruction and mentor apprentices and trainees
  • Assist with audits to ensure safety, quality and environmental standards are met
  • Drive/operate vehicles and plant requiring general and specialist skills
Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 2 or NVQ Level 3 in Highway Electrical Work Public Lighting (Desirable)
  • Full UK Driving Licence with HGV
  • Previous Street Lighting Experience
  • Highway Electrical Registration Scheme Qualifications
  • Ability to follow instructions and deliver the desired outcome safely and to the correct standards
