Construction Accountant

Established construction company is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Accountant to join its accounting team. This role will support daily accounting operations, with a focus on accounts payable, job costing, project billing, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a background in construction accounting, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable invoices, ensuring accurate coding, proper approvals, and timely payments to vendors and subcontractors.
• Prepare and manage customer billing, including AIA billing applications, progress billing, and change orders.
• Maintain accurate job cost records and allocate expenses to the appropriate projects, cost codes, and budgets.
• Reconcile vendor statements, research discrepancies, and resolve invoice and payment issues.
• Assist with accounts receivable, customer collections, and monitoring outstanding project balances.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
• Track project costs against budgets and assist with identifying discrepancies and potential cost overruns.
• Maintain accurate financial records, subcontractor documentation, and project files.
• Collaborate with project managers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal team members to resolve accounting-related questions.
• Assist with financial reporting and other accounting duties as needed.
