Primary Purpose of Department

The UNC Charlotte College of Arts + Architecture is a community of visual & performing artists and design professionals who work in both intellectual and material practices. Through education, expertise, and leadership, the College models excellence in teaching, scholarly and creative research, and performance in five creative disciplines: architecture, art and art history, dance, music, and theatre. Purpose of Position

The Director for Assessment, Planning, and Accreditation holds a full-time, 12-month administrative appointment, providing administrative oversight for student learning outcomes assessment and data initiatives in the College of Arts + Architecture (CoAA). The position reports to and supports the CoAA Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.

Summary of Position Responsibilities
  • Coordinating a college-wide learning outcome assessment plan.
  • Identifying college and department assessment needs.
  • Developing assessment tools, processes, and required infrastructure.
  • Facilitating and institutionalizing assessment processes.
  • Providing data related to college unit leaders for completion of annual reports, and assistance in developing self‑study reports related to (discipline‑based) accreditation.
  • Coordinating college-wide academic services, including advising processes and reporting methods, student communications, and retention strategies.
  • Developing and maintaining tracking systems for admissions, enrollment, progression, attrition, and graduation rates.
  • Assisting with organizing and conducting Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR) sessions.
  • Collaborating with University offices, including but not limited to the Office of Assessment & Accreditation, Institutional Research, Academic Services Offices, and the Office of Enrollment Management on advising and assessment initiatives.
  • Providing leadership and support for professional academic advisors in the college.
  • Providing content for internal and external audiences, displaying relevant data and trends.
  • Supporting the selection, piloting, and implementation of new technology/software for advising and assessment.
  • Supporting the CoAA Prospect for Success implementation team and assessment/reporting process.
  • Working with the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs on the implementation of University initiatives.
  • Participation and membership in appropriate University committees and working groups.
  • Participation in external and national programs engaged in research on program assessment and outcomes, pre‑ and post‑graduation.
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Experience at an institute of Higher Education facilitating academic planning, assessments, and self‑studies.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Experience with data analysis and statistical software is required.
  • Proficiency with assessment and student software, including Compliance Assist and Banner.
  • Proficiency with data visualization software, including Tableau.
  • Experience with both quantitative and qualitative methods is required.
