Job Overview
Responsibility includes collaborating effectively with the Senior Engineering Manager, while maintaining strong working relationships with Product Management, Sales and Operation teams. This role involves gathering industry-specific market feedback, identifying customer product requirements and translating field-acquired insights into new design implementations for our Utility and Communication tool product lines.
A Day In The Life- Generate design concepts based on market needs and assist in presenting the concept to the customer
- Conduct market research on market trends, emerging technologies and competitive benchmarking
- Engage in customer visits to gather insights for new product development and legacy product enhancements.
- Travel to customer sites to gather firsthand market insights, collect product feedback, support live product demonstrations, and gain ideas for future product development.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Marketing leadership to translate market insights into a strategic product roadmap.
- Identify new tools that could improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the engineering department based on direct market feedback
- Recommend product and process changes, reviews engineering associate's technical work when asked.
- Ensure product designs meet quality, safety, and ISO standards.
- Generate and prepare technical reports, trip summaries and market details
- Participate in design reviews, releases, and change processes throughout the product lifecycle
- Communicate effectively with internal and external customers regarding engineering designs, conceptual ideas, design changes, requirements and any other engineering related matter
- Serve as a technical resource to other departments within Ripley and outside customers.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent.
- 5-8 years of relevant experience(required)
- Experience and general knowledge of product line industry.
- Excellent mechanical ability and problem solving.
- Is fully adept in mechanical design and fluent in 3D and 2D CAD (AutoCAD Inventor is a plus).
- Understands engineering drawing generation and configuration management.
- Read, understand and discuss technical requirements, articles, plans, drawings, etc.
- Working understanding of material and engineering master in SAP
- Good computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
