Water System Operator - Operational Technical Services

POSITION:
Water System Operator
SALARY: $30 - $50/hr
LOCATION:
Tolland County, CT
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Water System Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess the required Connecticut state certifications and have hands-on experience operating, monitoring, and maintaining water distribution and treatment systems. This individual will ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, while providing safe, reliable, and high-quality water service to our community.
Responsibilities- Operate and maintain water distribution systems in compliance with CT Class II Distribution System Operator requirements.
- Conduct routine system inspections, monitor flows, pressures, and water quality, and make necessary adjustments.
- Operate treatment plant processes in alignment with CT Class I Water Treatment Plant Operator certification.
- Monitor treatment processes, conduct sampling and testing, adjust chemical feed systems, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Perform cross connection surveys and inspections to identify and eliminate potential contamination hazards, per CT Cross Connection Survey Inspector standards.
- Maintain accurate records and reports of survey findings.
- Test, repair, and maintain backflow prevention devices in accordance with CT Backflow Prevention Tester certification.
- Document and report test results while ensuring all devices meet state and local requirements.
- Ensure all work complies with EPA, CT DPH, and local water quality regulations.
- Follow safety protocols and participate in emergency response situations as needed.
- CT Class II Distribution System Operator
- CT Cross Connection Survey Inspector (Preferred)
- CT Backflow Prevention Tester (Preferred)
- Valid CT Driver's License
- Meets health and physical condition standards necessary for performance of these duties.
- Ability to be exposed to hazardous conditions.
- Ability to work shift, weekend and holiday schedules.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting up to 50 lbs and other manual work under adverse conditions.
