Companion II

Per diem Companion II position at Athena Care at Home in the East Haddam area. The role supports clients living at home through companionship, personal care, and daily living assistance, while maintaining safety and comfort.

Base pay: $17.00 per hour (weekly).

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• CNA license preferred.

• Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring, ambulation, eating/feeding, continence care).
• Skin monitoring to maintain skin health.
• Range of motion and muscle strengthening exercises.
• Turning and positioning under nurse direction.
• Medication reminders.
• Application and maintenance of prosthetics and orthotics.
• Meal planning, preparation, and grocery shopping.
• Accompanying to medical appointments.
• Monitoring or prompting the client to complete above items.
• Behavior monitoring and intervention as needed.
• Reporting changes in client status.
• Perform routine household tasks per care plan (cleaning bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, living area, laundry, dusting, vacuuming, washing dishes, floor care, trash removal).
• Driving clients to planned outings or events.
• Providing emotional support.

• Excellent customer service and listening skills.
• Reliable transportation and insured vehicle.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Professional judgment and ethical conduct.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Provide covered Homemaker service per care plan.
• Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills.
• Access to a working telephone for communication with office/manager, client, and staff.
