Gen Star currently offers an excellent opportunity for a Senior Casualty Underwriter - Gen Star based in our New York City office. This is a hybrid role.

The Senior Underwriter performs a wide array of underwriting and marketing functions, demonstrating knowledge and competence in both client relationship management and technical underwriting skills. Responsibilities include analyzing and evaluating complex risks and exposures, and applying a working knowledge of rates, forms, pricing structures, terms, and conditions in primary and excess casualty lines. The Underwriter collaborates with a team of professionals within the branch and corporately, leveraging resources to provide a best-in-class response to clients.

• Minimum of five years of commercial liability underwriting experience within the surplus lines marketplace; eight or more years preferred.
• Undergraduate college degree.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Excellent client relationship management skills.
• Commitment to continuous learning and industry knowledge.
• Enthusiastic team player and self-starter.
