Overview

Description:

The Assistant Manager will ensure the members receive the highest quality of service and facilities. He or she will exhibit an ability to achieve the financial targets for the club as outlined in the annual budget by motivating, leading, supervising and coordinating the activities of employees engaged in servicing our member needs. He/She will demonstrate an aptitude and command of all company wide policies and initiatives to ensure the integrity of the Elite Fitness brand.

Responsibilities
  • Administration/Organization:
    Demonstrate a working knowledge of all standard operating procedures and policies that pertain to the club. Communicate and implement club policies and procedures to employees. Encourage staff to work as a team and be productive. Illustrate an ability to make decisions. Recruit and hire the highest possible caliber of staff.
  • Sales/Revenue Management:
    Lead, motivate, and manage the team. Achieve desired sales goals. Achieve desired revenue goals through the leadership and motivation of employees. Implement and support company programs and promotions to help generate new sales leads for optimum new membership growth. Ensure that the team maintains proper tracking forms and daily leads. Ensure that all promotions are effectively communicated to the team and other staff.

    Ensure ongoing prospecting and generation of new prospective members. Review sales-related written communications for effectiveness, spelling, accuracy and distribution. Ensure the staff has a high level of knowledge about the club's programs, facilities and equipment. Emphasize staff involvement in the community and neighborhood businesses.
  • Personal Training/Revenue Management:
    Lead, motivate and manage the personal training department. Achieve desired personal training revenue and session production goals. Implement and support company programs and promotions to generate new PT client acquisition for optimum member base penetration. Facilitate integration of Personal Training products into point of sale presentations to maximize orientation sessions scheduled and packages sold. Ensure Personal Training team follows proper session redemption procedures.

    Oversee PT manager to satisfy department objectives.
  • Operations:
    Coordinate and work within club support functions of Fitness, Sales and Marketing, Accounting, IT. Resolve member complaints following club procedure and documentation. Promote a professional and welcoming atmosphere. Ensure cleanliness, maintenance, safety, and security standards. Conduct weekly detailed inspections with the Maintenance Manager and forward information to the staff. Ensure maintenance items are repaired promptly, proper signage is posted, and out-of-service equipment is removed when possible.

    Reinforce that cleanliness is everyone's responsibility. Ensure proper inventory of maintenance parts. Track completion of opening/closing checklists, stage management, repair & maintenance log, locker log and cleaning checklist. Assist in processing and approval of payroll.
  • Financial:
    Understand budgets and income statements. Establish controls of expenses and purchasing. Keep expenses at or below budget. Articulate variances in revenue/sales/expenses versus budget.
  • Leadership/Motivation:
    Serve as a role model. Communicate effectively through weekly and individual meetings with key club personnel. Provide an inspirational environment that welcomes feedback and takes action to ensure quality.
  • Profit Centers:
    Drive profit center revenue such as personal training and retail. Monitor flagged check-ins to increase revenue and collections. Increase revenue per member.
