Warehouse Order Selector
Full-time hourly position. Shift: Friday‑Monday 11am start. The schedule is subject to change by management through the warehouse rebid process with the union.
What does it mean to be part of the Order Selection Team? In this fast‑paced role you are considered an industrial athlete—boots on the ground responsible for accurately and efficiently pulling customer orders within the warehouse. You will palletize orders, ensure they are placed in the correct assigned locations, and operate motorized equipment such as an electric pallet jack. You must safely and accurately move product throughout the warehouse, embracing teamwork and dedication to make a difference.
Job Responsibilities- Inspect assigned jack for safety issues.
- Identify correct pick location and pick sequence in accordance with the order.
- Shrink wrap and label with correct truck, stop, and other required information.
- Stage pallets in appropriate bays throughout the warehouse.
- Listen for first and last call and obtain all out‑of‑stocks in a timely manner.
- Immediately inform a foreman, supervisor, or manager of any potential safety threats.
- Operate pallet jack or pushcart safely and efficiently.
- Build a stable, well‑cubic pallet.
- Park and recharge pallet jack in its appropriate spot at the end of the shift.
- Perform other tasks as needed.
- Understanding of safety guidelines.
- Warehouse/operations preferred but not required.
- Ability to select at the established minimum rate for the department.
- Understand and properly follow all selecting procedures and verbal instructions in your area.
- Possess an understanding of procedures in other areas of the warehouse for a global view of all processes.
- Good judgment is required, as direct supervision may not always be immediately available.
- This position requires the associate to perform all duties at one of UNFI’s locations, such as a distribution center or office.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.
- Exposure to temperatures ranging from −20°F to 35°F in perishable operations and 37°F to 90°F in grocery operations.
- Ability to perform repetitious arm, wrist, and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.
- Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and under equipment.
- Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work at ground level and in high places.
- Ability to operate work‑related equipment.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
