Overview
Job title:
Faculty (Political Science/Government) at Lone Star College, Montgomery. Primary responsibilities include planning, developing, and teaching courses within the curriculum to facilitate student learning and contribute to the college and community educational environment.
- Teaches Government courses at a variety of times and locations to meet institutional needs
- Improves instructional quality by reviewing and applying innovative methodologies and delivery methods
- Develops and uses a syllabus for each course or laboratory within college and departmental guidelines
- Plans and uses diverse teaching methods and materials to accommodate students with different backgrounds and learning styles
- Evaluates student progress toward course objectives and communicates progress in a timely manner
- Submits required college reports and forms
- Reviews, evaluates, and recommends student learning materials
- Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
- Provides access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication, and other appropriate methods
- Participates in professional development and institutional service as determined with the Dean
- Other reasonable related duties as assigned

- Demonstrated leadership with a collaborative, facilitative style
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to consider alternative viewpoints and work with a wide variety of people

- Ability to engage students effectively through proven strategies
- Master's degree in political science/government or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in political science/government; JDs and MPAs must have 18 graduate hours in related political science/government courses
- Work is sedentary; may involve walking, standing, bending, and light carrying; no special physical demands required
- Work environment is a climate-controlled classroom and/or lab with minimal safety hazards
- Hours vary with class times; instructors must meet scheduled classes and be available outside instruction
Commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications. The offer is determined by related experience and education. Certifications listed as required or preferred should be included.
