Overview

Job title:

Faculty (Political Science/Government) at Lone Star College, Montgomery. Primary responsibilities include planning, developing, and teaching courses within the curriculum to facilitate student learning and contribute to the college and community educational environment.

• Teaches Government courses at a variety of times and locations to meet institutional needs
• Improves instructional quality by reviewing and applying innovative methodologies and delivery methods
• Develops and uses a syllabus for each course or laboratory within college and departmental guidelines
• Plans and uses diverse teaching methods and materials to accommodate students with different backgrounds and learning styles
• Evaluates student progress toward course objectives and communicates progress in a timely manner
• Submits required college reports and forms
• Reviews, evaluates, and recommends student learning materials
• Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
• Provides access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication, and other appropriate methods
• Participates in professional development and institutional service as determined with the Dean
• Other reasonable related duties as assigned

• Master's degree in political science/government or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in political science/government; JDs and MPAs must have 18 graduate hours in related political science/government courses

• Work is sedentary; may involve walking, standing, bending, and light carrying; no special physical demands required

• Work environment is a climate-controlled classroom and/or lab with minimal safety hazards
• Hours vary with class times; instructors must meet scheduled classes and be available outside instruction

Commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications. The offer is determined by related experience and education.
