Job Description
Purpose and Scope
The teaching faculty is responsible for providing learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and the community. Primary responsibilities include planning, developing, and teaching courses within the curriculum to facilitate student learning.
CE instructors are hired part‑time on a semester‑by‑semester basis. As of now, there is no communication with applicants unless they are selected for an interview.
Essential Job Functions
- Teach GED/Adult Basic Education‑Career Preparation courses at a variety of times and locations
- Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
- Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner
- Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
- Meet with and advise students before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
- Evaluate students to measure progress in achieving course objectives and inform them in a timely manner
- Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
- Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required
- Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned

Physical Abilities
The work is sedentary. The employee sits comfortably to do the work. Occasional walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items may occur. No special physical demands are required.
Work Schedule & Conditions
- Equipment: PC workstation on LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and general office equipment
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed
- Work is performed in a climate‑controlled classroom and/or lab environment with minimal exposure to hazards
- Hours vary depending on class time. Instructors must meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of instruction
Required Qualifications
- At least 3 years of related work experience in the desired teaching area
Salary
$55.44 per contact hour.
